Falconry at Gleneagles

Checking something off the bucket list is a thrilling experience. I’m a big believer in working on your bucket list while you’re still young rather than waiting until retirement to try and do all the things you’ve been wanting to do your whole life!

One thing that’s always been on my list was falconry! There are limited places in the world where falconry is an option. Having the resources to train the giants birds for years is no easy feat! But the folks at Gleneagles in Scotland are famous for their hunting hawks. So Scotland is where we went!

They provide you with a full set of weatherproof clothes courtesy of Barbour and an instructor to show you the ropes as well as guide the hunting expedition into the local fields with the Harris Hawks.

Did we experience a true Scottish rainstorm during our hunt? Naturally. Did that manage to wipe the smile off my face even a smidge? Not a chance!

What’s something on your bucket list?
