Birds of a Feather: Galentine’s Edition

Recipe for the ultimate Galentine’s Night:

  1. That restaurant you and the girls keep meaning to try out

  2. A woman in your group looking for an excuse to wear that cute dress she recently bought

  3. The willingness to take on the monumental task of attempting to coordinate multiple schedules (did everyone make it? No. But my goodness did we try)

  4. The desire to leave the wonderful men in our lives at home for an evening despite how much we really do love them (they turned it into a guys night so that worked out well for them)

  5. Be close enough to Valentine’s Day that you can upgrade your girls night out with a theme

Our night started like any other, several weeks earlier when the girl with the dress texted the group chat. We then began the task of deliberation; determining everything from date and time to modes of transportation, pre-plan plans, post-plan plans, general dress code (based exclusively on the aforementioned dress), and invite list.

Going out with a large group of workaholics in their late twenties is no small feat, my friends. When you realize everyone’s schedules are packed with their careers, side gigs, grad school classes and homework, date nights, volunteering, and other various events it’s a truly herculean task to get everyone all together. Which is why we’re proud if it happens once a month.

Several weeks later, we were finally ready.

The Nest is one of the chicest little cocktail bars in Seattle. Perched on the rooftop of the Thompson Hotel with eagle eye views of the city below you can’t help but have a delightful time.

With scrumptious signature cocktails and views of the Seattle waterfront only a couple blocks away the night was divine. Even in the middle of winter they don’t restrict their rooftop access but rather cover the space with a tent so the views are unobstructed and you still get to feel as though you’re outside. They’ve got a proper indoor section as well, if that’s more your thing. Complete with the coziest sofas and a standing bar where you can perch for some prime people watching.

But the ultimate win was getting to spend some quality time with my girls and remind one another how much we all love and support each other. It was Galentine’s, after all, and what could be better than that?

xo,

Kate
