When my friends and I were planning our September trip to Japan I was completely focused on all the ancient things we’d get to see, the temples, museums, parks, you name it I was here for it. My other friends planning the trip were all about the food, and man did we eat well! Two of the most delicious weeks of my life!

What I hadn’t known to expect was how moved I would be by all the art, in all it’s various forms, that we would encounter.

The visuals will hit you from all directions at all times and I absolutely loved it.

Here are my Tokyo must-see choices for all things art:

1.) TeamLab Borderless

Borderless was one of the most unparalleled experiences I have ever had the privilege of experiencing. A multi-room digital experience that transforms and engages the audience in a way that pulls you into the art; especially the interactive parts! With color changing lights, balloons, rock walls, waterfalls, digital flowers blooming in your tea, and samurai that battle across the walls, this is one museum you do not want to miss!

2.) Studio Ghibli Museum

Designed inside one of the most beautiful old houses, with stained glass in each window, and every minute detail designed with precision and the utmost respect I wanted to pack up my things and move in! The care with which each piece in every exhibit is displayed and explained is breathtaking. The whole thing makes you want to curl up with a cup of tea and watch every Studio Ghibli film back to back.

Make sure to get all the way up to the highest rooftop for a chance to see this giant buddy of mine!

3.) Mori Art Museum

At the time I visited the Mori Art Museum they were doing a showcase exhibit on Shiota Chiharu, a Japanese born and German trained, performance artist whose installations involving red and black thread would take over entire rooms.
